School of Architecture, Design and Planning

School of Business
- First year students must fulfill specific GPA & SAT or ACT score requirements to enter the School of Business. Otherwise competitive admission occurs after the student has completed pre-requisite coursework at KU, usually after the sophomore year. Freshmen who meet all of the admission criteria may apply directly. Students interested in Business who do not meet the requirements will begin their studies in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences in pre-business curriculum & consult with a pre-business advisor during the first year at KU. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

- Admitted students may add one of the following co-majors at the time of advising and enrollment: European Studies, International Studies, Russian, European & Eurasian Studies.
School of Education
- First year students cannot enter directly into the School of Education. Admission does not occur until student has completed pre-requisite coursework, usually in the university sophomore year. Freshmen select a pre-education program from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences section Preparation in the College and consult a pre-education advisor during the first year at KU. School of Engineering

School of Health Professions (Kansas City)
- First-year students cannot enter directly into the School of Health Professions. Admission occurs in the junior or senior year of college. Freshmen and sophomores may select a preparatory health care program from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences section, Preparation in the College, and should consult with the school’s advisor in the University Advising Center as early as possible. Admission prerequisites vary by major. Transfer students are encouraged to apply and are admitted by the admissions coordinator of the individual program. School of Journalism and Mass Communications
- First year international students may enter the School of Journalism & Mass Communications only if they meet specific admission requirements, including required ACT or SAT scores and TOEFL or IELTS scores demonstrating English proficiency. Admission generally occurs after the student has completed pre-requisite coursework in the university sophomore year. Freshmen select the pre-journalism program from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences section Preparation in the College and consult a pre-journalism advisor during the first year at KU. School of Nursing (Kansas City)
- First year students cannot enter directly into the School of Nursing. Freshmen select the pre-nursing program from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences section Preparation in the College and consult with a pre-nursing advisor. Refer to the Admissions Requirements & Deadlines Chart to review admissions requirements. If you are a transfer student, you must be admitted by the admissions coordinator of the nursing program. School of Pharmacy
- First year students cannot enter directly into the School of Pharmacy. Admission does not occur until student has completed pre-requisite coursework, in the university junior year. Freshmen select the pre-pharmacy program from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences section Preparation in the College and consult a pre-pharmacy advisor during the first year at KU.
