Undergraduate Admissions

How to Get Your I-20

Shipping information for degree seeking international undergraduates. If you are admitted to the Applied English Center as a non-degree student, please contact aec@ku.edu for shipping instructions.

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services will process the I-20 (SEVIS immigration document) and provide an admissions packet to admitted international degree seeking undergraduate students. Students must choose from two shipping options.

  1. Send by Express Mail: If you choose this option, you must make arrangements within 7 days of your admission. Express mailing documents is faster and more efficient, usually taking 3-4 days. We highly recommend this option. We use a third party service, eShipGlobal, which allows you to select your destination by DHL or FedEx If you choose to express mail your documents, it will be at your expense. You will pay by credit card upon requesting the service. Please go to the following website to set up Express Mail, and select "Intl. Student & Scholar Services" as the department:

    http://study.eshipglobal.com

You must go to this website to set up express mail; do not go through DHL or FedEx directly. This is because eShipGlobal provides communication between you and our office, which makes shipping more efficient. Our office will be notified when you have requested the service.

If you use this service, you will be required to create an account. To request shipment, you will need a mailing address, e-mail, phone number and credit card information. If you have any questions while using this service, please e-mail support@eshipglobal.com.

  2. Send by Regular Mail: If eShipGlobal does not receive your request within 7 days of your admission, your documents will be shipped through regular US Postal Service air mail. Regular mail can take up to 3-4 weeks for international mailings and 3-7 days for mailings within the United States. If you choose this option, please reply to this e-mail with the following information, written in your native language and with an English translation.

Your Full Name
Complete Mailing Address
Your Phone Number
Your KUID (7-digit number)

We will include this information for mailing your I-20 and admission packet so that your documents reach you as quickly as possible.

If you have questions about the shipping of your SEVIS documents, please contact issdocs@ku.edu

Transfer Students

All students currently in the U.S. in F-1 status at any type of institution (high school, college, university, intensive English programs) who plan to change schools must complete a transfer procedure through SEVIS. The Intent to Transfer to KU form should be completed ONLY AFTER admission to KU is obtained and a transfer "release" date has been established by the school you are currently attending. Transfer students from U.S. high schools, colleges and universities are required to complete the Intent to Transfer form before KU can prepare an I-20.
