F-1 | Change of Major or Degree Level

Change of Major or Program

This process is usually initiated by the student. Once the request has been processed by the appropriate school (i.e. School of Engineering or College of Liberal Arts & Sciences) or a department (i.e. EECS) and recorded in Enroll & Pay, ISSS will automatically create a new I-20. Student will receive an email when the new I-20 is ready to be picked up in ISSS office, Rm. 2 Strong Hall. If you do not receive an email from ISSS within two weeks of submitting the change of major, please contact ISSS.

Change of Degree Level

Student must gain admission into new degree. Appropriate proof of finances should be submitted along with the application for admission. A new I-20 for change in education level cannot be issued without appropriate proof of finances. The change in education level event creates a new "Initial" SEVIS I-20. Once the student has enrolled at the new education level, the Initial record will be registered and updated to "Active-Continued Attendance".
