J-1 | Program Sponsorship Transfer

All degree-seeking J-1 students, currently in the U.S. who plan to change program sponsorship must complete the transfer procedure through SEVIS.

Transfer from KU to Another Program Sponsor

Students transferring out of KU need to complete the transfer-out procedures:

  • Notify KU-ISSS of your intention to transfer out
  • Complete ISSS' Transfer-Out Form
  • Meet with an ISSS advisor to discuss the release date of your SEVIS record to the new program sponsor
  • The Transfer Release Date is the date on which your SEVIS record will electronically transfer to the new sponsor. The new sponsor cannot issue their DS-2019 until after this release date.
Please Note:

On or after the transfer release date, you cannot continue to work on campus. Should you wish to return to KU it will be necessary for you to apply for readmission.
