Health Insurance

GTA, GRA and GA Exceptions

If you are an F-1 or J-1 international student and will have at least a 50% GTA, GRA and/or GA appointment for a minimum of eight consecutive work weeks during the fall or spring semester, or four consecutive work weeks during the summer, you are eligible for the 75% university contribution towards the insurance premium for that semester.

Qualifying GTAs, GRAs and GAs will automatically be enrolled in the GTA/GRA/GA health insurance plan. To avoid late fees on your university billing, you should pay the full amount due for tuition and fees by the billing due date. This will include the health insurance premium of $520 for fall and spring and/or $208 for summer. Your student account will then be credited $389 for fall and spring and/or $156 for summer in the month following the beginning of classes. YOU WOULD STILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LATE FEES.

For GTA, GRA, GA specific questions or comments, please contact Ms. Mary Karten at mkarten@ku.edu or call her at (785) 864-7346. Her office is located in Benefits (Rm. 152 Carruth O'Leary).
